About Me
Welcome! I'm Linda-Marie, an artist and poet originally from the outskirts of Manchester, England, now living in Wrexham, Wales. My creative journey blends visual and literary expression, primarily through watercolour and poetry.  Art became a sanctuary for me—a way to embrace nature, process emotions, and find joy in self-expression. This passion led to the publication of my first children’s book, Macie Mouse and the Green Cellar Door, and my poetry collection, Creative Expression, in 2016.

My Artistic Journey

Whilst I have explored various artistic media over the years, I truly found my voice in watercolours and mixed media. My work includes ATCs, still-life watercolours, and mixed media pieces, each infused with poetic elements. I also incorporate old poetry (cited) and my own quotes within my mixed media art, adding layers of meaning and depth. For me, art is more than technique—it’s about capturing emotions, memories, and personal stories. Every brushstroke is an invitation to connect with the world in a meaningful way.

From Music to Art

Music was my first love, and I taught myself to play the saxophone and violin by ear. Singing has always been a significant part of my life, serving as my main emotional outlet, especially during times of frustration. I still sing, but I find art an easier medium to visualize my thoughts and emotions. It plays a crucial role in my mindfulness journey, which I hope others will embrace and enjoy as they discover my works. Song writing and crafting from found materials were my early creative outlets. Despite a challenging upbringing, I hold dear the moments of joy—climbing trees, planting flowers with my mother, and exploring the countryside. These experiences shaped my deep connection to nature, which continues to inspire my art today.

Life's Many Paths

Throughout my life, I have embraced multiple careers, including singing, finance, ecology, and teaching, all while raising a family. My husband, Aaron Troughton, and my daughter have played an essential role in my artistic growth, offering unwavering encouragement and inspiration. Living in different places across the UK and beyond has also expanded my perspective and enriched my creative expression.

My Connection to Wales

I have always felt drawn to Wales, spending our holidays here every year when I was young. My mother would take us up the Great Orme in Llandudno, a place that held deep significance for our family. Her ashes were eventually scattered there, and now Wales has become our lifelong home, where my artistic journey continues to flourish.

My Vision

I create art to tell stories, evoke emotions, and share a sense of wonder. Whether through painting, poetry, or mixed media, my goal is to capture the essence of an experience rather than simply reproduce an image. Art, for me, is a way to connect, reflect, and inspire creativity in others. I believe that self-expression should be a joyful and fulfilling process, and I hope my work encourages others to embrace their own creative journeys.
